W* is a domestic violence survivor and a single mum with two children. Her eldest daughter has special needs and a muscle condition so she spends a lot of time and energy caring for her daughter.
W*'s younger son is just coming into his teens and on the verge of manhood. Having to spend so much time on her daughter, her son felt neglected and a rift developed between mother and son.
When I spoke with the case worker from Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities (THKMC), I found out that she enjoyed cycling with her son (before COVID) and she would like to reconnect with her son through their common love of cycling.
David said the blue Wheeler Proride we had is suitable but thought we needed to give mum and son a bit more emotional support so he went to find a matching bike.
The Red Wheeler is donated by Janay and the refurbishing for both bikes sponsored by HJ.
You can see their delight when we surprised them with a matching pair of wheeler bikes. Fingers crossed that they are starting off well...
